My Favourite Make-Up Items

Hey everyone! I thought I’d write a post about my favourite make-up items and explain why I love them so much. Now I’m most definitely no beauty blogger or expert on this subject, and I will probably use the wrong terminology but never mind lol! I’m definitely not going to post any pictures of me wearing these make-up items, but I’ll show you what each one looks like in case you decide to go and buy them.

Firstly, mascara. I have tried LOADS of different brands and types of mascaras, and I think I’ve finally found THE one! Maybelline’s Lash Sensational Mascara is just lush, I use it in the Intense Black shade. Now I’ve got fairly long lashes already, so this mascara makes them more defined. The wand is slightly curved and has rubber bristles, but not the hard kind that drags your lashes out of your eyelid lol. The great thing about this mascara is that if you turn the wand around and use the back of it once you’ve fanned your lashes out, it will volumise your lashes and make them look so much thicker.

For my face, I use Maybelline Fit Me compact powder. Lately, I’ve had really greasy skin on my face so I had to resort to using a face powder to get rid of the shine. It does the trick for a good 10 hours I’d say, which is about enough for me. After that long I don’t normally care anyway lol! I’m totally useless with make-up so my face is lucky it’s getting this kind of treatment to be honest, I didn’t use anything on my skin for years until recently!

My next must-have is my eyebrow pencil. Without intending to blow my own brass instrument, I get told quite often that I’ve got amazing brows which always catches me out as I am rubbish at taking compliments! So, a couple of years back I had my brows shaped by a local mobile beautician who done a sterling job! Since then, I’ve just maintained the shape, thinned them out a little if they’ve gone a bit Noel Gallagher, and that is IT! Then, to define them before I go anywhere, I use Maybelline’s Brow Satin pencil in the medium brown shade. On one end you have the powder in the lid with a pointed sponge applicator, and the other end is a retractable pencil. Then, I just use an eyebrow brush to blend!

Next, to put a little colour on my cheeks, I use L’Oreal’s True Match Blush in Blush Peach. For years I used a crayon type blush and I fancied a change so went for this. I am in no way into contouring and all that jazz (as you’ve probably gathered by now lol!) but I do like to pink up my cheekbones a little before going out. I like this one as it comes with a little blusher brush in a hidden compartment under the blusher.

Finally, I’ll sometimes put on some eyeliner. I’ve tried dozens of different eyeliners and I’ve never mastered wings (don’t think my eyes are the right shape), so I’ve always found myself coming back to the old-fashioned Kohl pencil. I use a dark brown shade of the L’Oreal Color Riche range pencil.

And my bonus product is my lip balm which I only need to use once in the mornings to keep my lips soft and crack free. I found it in Waitrose and at the bargain price of £3.49 I’m even more pleased with it!

So, there you have it! I did warn you it wouldn’t be anything spectacular as I’m definitely no beauty blogger lol! But I thought it’d be nice to share my everyday make-up items. What are your go-to makeup products that you use daily? Do you have a fave brand and if so, why? Let me know in the comments below!

Until next time, Steff x
