Hey everyone! Today’s post is the Lockdown Silver Linings Tag which I was tagged in by the lovely Jordanne from Life Of A Glasgow Girl… thank you! The tag was started by Twin Mummy and Daddy and I think it’s a great idea! It gets you to focus on the positives that can still come out of awful situations like the one we’re all currently in. So you have to think of 5 things that have been Silver Linings to come out of lockdown, and then tag 5 other people to take part too!
Silver Lining #1
My number one silver lining has to be that I’ve had time to spend with Ant and the girls. I can’t see us getting this amount of time to spend together again, like ever! So I’ve tried to keep it laid back and to enjoy the time we have at the moment. Normally when we’re all together there are arguments over someone breathing incorrectly or not washing up their spoon lol. Whereas I’m actually surprised at the lack of arguments there have been! There has been the odd bit of bickering but that’s it! It’s been nice to sit in the garden together all day just watching the world go by and not having to rush off to do a hundred and one things.
Silver Lining #2
Now in a very strange way, this whole pandemic thing has been a bit of a blessing in disguise for me. Obviously, I’d rather there have been no virus to begin with. But as you may know, I relapsed with Myasthenia Gravis in January and the medication I take is making me so exhausted and in pain. I’m also shielded because of it all so I don’t have to worry about work until mid-June at least. The fact I don’t have to worry about work is a huge relief for me! I’m not sure how I’d have coped if I still had to go to work – working in a school is a worry for me going back as I’m such high risk. But I’ll wait and see what happens there when I need to.
Silver Lining #3
While I’m furloughed, I’m trying to spend my time wisely. I want to set my blog up so I can stick to a proper schedule. The theory is that I can spend certain evenings on certain tasks when we go back to ‘normal’. That way it’ll be easier to maintain and keep up! So far, I’ve scheduled my Instagram posts for the whole of May which should save me a lot of time. I’m hoping it’ll increase my stats on there too. My next big job is to plan my blog posts as far ahead as possible, so I better start thinking them up!! After that, I’m going to have a weekly list of things to do and I’m hoping that’ll set me up to keep me on track. A bit more than before at least anyway lol!
Silver Lining #4
Now let me be the first to say that it shouldn’t take a global pandemic to make you realise what’s important in life. We all know what matters to each of us, but life gets in the way of us showing it sometimes. Ok, a lot of the time. It I think this has made me realise the simpler things matter more. The fact we’ve all been home, together and safe, fed, watered, warm and clothed. I’m itching to be in the same room as all of my family, but that won’t happen until I’m not shielded anymore. I’m also itching to go bloody shopping for myself! Asking Ant to go to the shops and relying on him to get the right things is hard work. As well as that, I am CRAVING routine! Not just getting up and doing things at the same time every day, proper routine! But when I sit back and think about it, none of that matters as long as we’re all safe and well.
Silver Lining #5
Since lockdown began, we’ve decorated our hallway (except the carpet as we can’t get one fitted), built a lean-to on the side of the house, done the back garden, sorted our under-stairs cupboard (or corner shop as I call it because it houses all of our food supplies), moved Sam into her first flat with Kyle, which then led to us giving the youngest two girls a room of their own so they’re now sorted too! On top of all that, we’ve done some spring cleaning so everything feels like it’s starting to come together. There’s still plenty to do as ever, but I feel a lot more relaxed now some of the big jobs are out of the way. The next major project is to sort the loft. We’re gonna need a skip, and Ant’s the only one that can get up there. So it should be an immense amount of fun! Yay!
So, there we have it! My 5 Lockdown Silver Linings and here are the five other lovely ladies that I’m tagging to take part!
- Lauren from Bournemouth Girl
- Sam from Sam’s Blog
- Fiona from Sunshine, Raindrops & Tea in the Garden
- Emma from Life of Emma x

Until next time, Steff xx
